Reagan James Announces New Release “Honey” – Relocates to Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES – NOVEMBER 1, 2017 – Following the success of her 2016 full-length release “Have a Nice Day” which reached #24 on the iTunes R&B charts, Reagan James announces the release of “Honey” – now available for streaming on Spotify and SoundCloud.
“Honey” blends retro flavor with fresh indie soul while incorporating the lyrical wit James is known for. Each song is crisp and inventive, from the title track – a sexy, playful song reminiscent of 80’s beats – to the heavily R&B-influenced track “Step Back” which is full of grit, confidence, and attitude. Working with her longtime writing and production team including producer Geoff Rockwell and guitarist Aaron Anthony, James cites this product as the “most eclectic, colorful group of songs” she has ever released.
“Honey” is also available for licensing on MusicBed – a full-service licensing platform providing a highly curated selection of songs to filmmakers for use in media projects – with which James signed a two-year licensing contract in February 2016.
The Texas-born singer-songwriter who was a Top 10 finalist on Season 7 of NBC’s The Voice relocated in September to the Los Angeles area to pursue writing and performing opportunities. Asked about making such a big move at such a young age (James turns 19 in November):
“I just felt like it was the right step for me as an artist – and even personally,” said James. “There are more co-writing opportunities, more industry people to engage … I’m optimistic about what the future holds.”
Having been compared to breakout divas from the early aughts (Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill) – James continues to blaze her own trail, paying homage to the greats while formulating fresh ways to engage new fans; she assures us that this is just the beginning.
